Resumen
Ethnography is a research method that involves a series of qualitative techniques of social investigation. At its core are fieldwork research and participant observation. Ethnography has played an important role in urban research by helping to reveal the different social groups that inhabit the city as well as the ways in which diversity achieves organization and claims its rights to the city. Ethnography has a history that extends back at least a hundred years, although it was not until recent decades that its practice extended beyond the one discipline that has cultivated it in a more systematic manner: anthropology.
