Aspectos históricos del surgimiento y desarrollo de la física en Chile durante el siglo XX

The evolution of physics in Chile is divided in three large periods. First, amid the global development of science in the country in the 19th century. Second, in its development along with engineering and education during the first half of the 20th century. Third, its independent evolution in each of the last five decades. A generalization is attempted with emphasis over the field, institutions, and facts. At the end, a brief evaluation of the present moment, coinciding with the change of century and millennium, is done.
