This text presents the notion of anthropological algology as an inte-grative discipline for approaching diagnosis and treatment of pain, particularly in its chronic forms and considering its expressive and affective dimensions. The challenge for the helping professions and health institutions demands a bioethical stance base don dialogue and deliberation.
