Resumen
The January 2018 vote on two laws related to the Chilean regionalization will mark a turning point in the history of the country's territorial administration, characterized as ultra-centralized and presidential. However, despite granting important new powers to the regions, definitively implementing the administration of the Metropolitan Areas and providing a new mechanism for the transfer of competences, this deepening of regionalization is not the decentralization that it pretends to be and the pending reforms are important.
