Abstract
This article summarizes the results of our research about the infl uence of social and economic remittances on the transformation and continuity of gender and intergenerational relations and practices inside Colombian transnational families, in a context that includes the Área Metropolitana Valle de Aburrá, the Área Metropolitana Centro Occidente in Colombia, and the community of Madrid, in Spain. Our approach to sampling took into account the family typology to which respondents belonged before migration, and the diacronical dimension during the migration process, the pre-migration stage, and the migration stage in a transnational context.
