Personal profile
Personal profile
I am an Italian academic and researcher specializing in philosophy of law, legal reasoning, legal interpretation, and fundamental rights. I hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Law (Università di Pisa-Universidad de Sevilla), and have gained postdoctoral experience through research positions at the University of São Paulo and the University of Geneva. Currently, I am a professor of Philosophy of Law at Universidad Central de Chile and a researcher in the Núcleo de Teoría Jurídica y Política at the same institution. My work mainly focuses on the judicial enforcement of social rights, the material and historical dimensions of legal norms, and the legitimacy of judicial interpretation in constitutionalism.
At present, my research, supported by the Fondecyt de Iniciación grant, looks into the judicial enforcement of social rights and the democratic legitimacy of judicial interpretation. A key aspect of my investigation involves applying semantic holism to legal reasoning. I am also interested in the relationship between economic freedoms and social rights, and the role of courts in balancing these rights within democratic systems.
I have published in various international law journals and contributed to several edited volumes on topics such as the indeterminacy of social rights, judicial balancing of rights, and contemporary constitutionalism. I am also involved in academic communities, serving on editorial boards and research groups, including the ICON's "Constitution Making" group.
