Marco Valencia Palacios

He has conducted research on urban and rural heritage, the history of urban planning in Chile, the history of Chilean housing policy, citizen participation in urban development, and urban cultural studies, among others. He has been a FONDECYT researcher. Editor and co-author of the books "Neoliberalism, Sustainability, and Citizenship" (Ed. UCEN, 2015), "Aesthetics of Participation" (Ed. Quimantú, 2016), and "Territorial Militancies" (Ed. UCEN / MINCAP, 2019), among others. He is the author of the books "Project, Work, and Community. Modern Housing Architecture in Santiago de Chile" (Ed. LOM, 2017); “The Heritage Question. Neighborhood Resistance in the Neoliberal City” (Ed. MINCAP, 2021) and recently co-editor of Emerging Heritage in Contemporary Chile, Ed. Subdirectorate of Research of the National Cultural Heritage Service, MINCAP, Santiago, 2024. Currently principal researcher of the regular fondecyt project of ANID, “Diagnosis of the state of conservation and enhancement of Chilean funerary heritage, study of the patrimonialization process of traditional cemeteries in the north, center and south of the country”, 2024-2027
