Research Interests

Over the past twenty years, I have focused my research using feminist anthropology and ethnography, developing two lines of research related to the analysis of care in light of two contemporary social phenomena: aging and transnational migration. My goal has been to uncover the gender and kinship inequalities that cross the lives of migrant and older women in the practices of caring and being cared for and to contribute to public policy design from an anthropological perspective. Thus, I have built an academic and research career consistent with these themes as reflected in my publications, the projects I have led and participated in, my teaching, the teams I have formed, and my activities of transfer and internalization. Over the past fourteen years, I have led four research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) within the first line of research focusing on care, gender/kinship, and aging. These projects were funded by The Chilean National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (Fondecyt)/The National Agency for Research and Development (ANID)/Ministry of Education of the Chilean government. In terms of my second line of research on care and migration. As a result of these projects, I have published in national and international indexed journals (Global North/South).
