PhD in Philosophy and Letters (Valladolid, 1985). Master's in Bioethics (Santiago de Compostela, 1997). Associate Professor, Research and Graduate Institute of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Central University of Chile. President from 2009 to 2019 of the Latin American Federation of Bioethics Institutions (FELAIBE). He has served as President of the Ministerial Commission on Biomedical Research Ethics in Chile. President of the Scientific Ethics Committee of UCEN. Among his recent books: Reasoned and Reasonable Bioethics, and Themes in Social Bioethics, where he delves into human rights as the basis for a bioethics that is not only clinical but also social. He has published various texts on the Humanization of health care and Educating in humanization in health careers.
