Daniela Barría is an observational astronomer currently based at the Universidad Central in La Serena, Chile. She received her PhD in Physical Sciences at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile in 2014. Her thesis work was focused on the optical study and characterization of Double Periodic Binaries under the supervision of Dr. Ronald Mennickent and Dra. Linda Schmitobreick. During her PhD studies she granted a 2 years studentship at European Southern Observatory in Santiago, Chile. She then obtained two postdoctoral positions at Universidad Católica del Norte in Antofagasta, studying planetary nebulae using optical photometric and multiwavelength spectroscopic data from spatial and grounded telescopes. Her main research topic is the study of close binaries, with emphasis in its possible connection to the asymmetries observed in Planetary Nebulae.
