Ariany da Silva Villar is a psychologist (Universidade Católica Dom Bosco – UCDB, Brazil, 2015) and holds a PhD in Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2022, with Highest Honors). Her research examines transnational migration, intersectional and gender studies, the subjective experience of ageing, and personal and collective identity processes in Latin America—especially in Chile and Brazil—through qualitative approaches (life histories, ethnography, photovoice). She is currently a full-time Research Faculty member at the Research and Doctoral Institute, Universidad Central de Chile (Faculty of Law and Humanities), and a member of the Mental Health, Wellbeing and Society Research Group (GISAM) and the Gender, Intersectionality and Diversity Research Group (GEID). She leads the ANID–FONDECYT Postdoctoral Project 3250262 on the return migration of older Chileans to Santiago and collaborates as a Junior Researcher on FONDECYT Regular 1230017 on gender inequalities and violence in the social sciences in Latin America. Recent publications include articles in Journal of Aging Studies, Si Somos Americanos, Antípoda, and Migraciones Internacionales.
